Steve Beal, Master of Whisky for Northern California conducts tastings, seminars, dinners, educational courses, and private events on behalf of Diageo’s whisky portfolio. His goal is to equip knowledge-thirsty consumers with the skills to discern a single malt Scotch from a blend, an Irish whiskey from a Scotch whisky or a Bourbon from a Tennessee whiskey. Steve gained much of his whisky knowledge through training at some of the world’s most respected distilleries. Prior to becoming a Master of Whisky, Steve studied the culinary arts in Paris. Today Steve is highly respected throughout the spirits world spirits world, judging at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, presenting for Bon Appétit magazine’s Wine and Spirits Focus and serving as a contributing editor to Patterson’s Beverage Journal.
